Jerry Seinfeld’s New Web Series

Joining the party with Kevin Spacey and Tom Hanks and a growing group of big name web advocates, Jerry Seinfeld is bringing his talents to Crackle.com. Crackle does not receive as much pub as Hulu, YouTube, or Funny or Die, and to be honest I didn’t know much about it until I read of this new Jerry Seinfeld web-series.

Crackle is an online entertainment network created by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The site and downloadable app feature full length, uncensored movies, television shows, and original series. Their newest web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, features a start-studded list of comedians along side television favorite, Jerry Seinfeld. Guests include, Ricky Gervais, Seinfeld creator and main character of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David, and Alec Baldwin.

The teaser doesn’t provide much additional information, but seems fun nonetheless.

The series premieres July 19th on Crackle.com. Crackle has already had success with some of its other original series, Angel of Death and The Bannen Way. So, the launch of another successful web series isn’t just good for Crackle, but good for the online video industry as a whole. Every little success YouTube or Hulu or Crackle has in launching original content to a large and engaged online audience helps keep the momentum swinging in their favor.  The only way to lure ad dollars away from television is to make online video content just a viable. With Netflix nabbing the Arrested Development reboot and Hulu announcing even more original content, the industry is steadily gaining confidence, and the more success the merrier.
